secondo il me il concetto è più vicino a ql che nasce da emozioni, intuizioni, sensazioni "di pancia", non razionale e non basato su teorie. Di certo non è l'equivalente del nostro idee del c., la derivazione del modo di dire inglese è diversa.

Sulla scia di quanto detto, pongo sul tavolino una mia idea, non "seat of the pants" ve lo giuro :):
se "ideas" volessimo non tradurlo con "idee" bensì con "discorsi" a me d'istinto, leggendo la frase, verrebbe da dire subito "discorsi a vanvera/a ca**o/cappero/aprire bocca e dargli fiato"(riformulando).
Cioè mi pare un po' questo il senso e con "discorsi" forse associamo meglio le aggettivazioni più appropriate in questo contesto.
A sostegno di ciò:
