C.Q.

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing
Hi all,

SP SP to UK EN,

The overall document is about LED lighting systems (interior and exterior). This particular section covers the manufacturing of the systems components, Q.C. appears twice so we have 2 contexts.

This is the first slide (it is a PPT presentation) and is a flow diagram:

"Fabricación Proceso en COMPANY NAME en España (SLIDE TITLE)

Diseño y Desarrollo
Equipos Luminarias COMPANY NAME (BOX 1)

Diseño Electrónica
Desarrollo moldes para Plásticos, Zamag y Aluminio
Diseño y desarrollo
Automatismos de Control (BOX 2)

Fabricación de Electrónica
Fabricación de Moldes
Fabricación de Útiles
Fabricación Módulos para *****C.Q.******" (BOX 3)

The second context is the first box in another flow diagram:

"Fabricación Proceso en COMPANY NAME en España
*****C.Q***** Componentes
Fabricación de Circuitos electrónicos
Capacidad, según modelo de Luminaria.
Para la L30 Int la capacidad actual es de 1.000Kits
Ensamble:

You can't complain there's not enough context!!!

I'm stumped, any help greatly appreciated.
Neil

@ Helena - WOOPS sorry again, I knew what you meant first time, just struck me as funny....I think I'm gonna go with CQ - control de calidad comes under the title CQ componentes and is the 3rd of 3 stages.....and so they can't be the same thing.
THANK YOU ALL FOR your help with this little riddler, BTW there are many hits for "CQ lights" in English, just can't for the life of me find out what the letters mean or if it is equivalent.
Helena Chavarria Feb 25, 2012:
:-(( I am native!! Born and bred in good ol' UK... And as for your translation I would just say "C.Q. components". If it's a presentation, then they'll probably know what it means.
As for your joke about my English. I had clicked on the wrong button twice (it happens to me occasionally) and when I was posting for the third time round my brain knew what it was thinking but the message didn't reach my fingers. I hope you realise that I wanted to say there are two things I don't understand about your question, not about how words are spelt in Spanish... BTW, I know what letters are more common in English, because they've worn away from my keyboard!
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
@ All OK i concede that "Quality Control" is probably the answer; however I put it to you all why do other parts of the text refer to "control de calidad"????? (Probably because it's a badly written text with many inconsistencies) - I hate it when the originial writer makes our life impossible....
@ Helena, I know you know that, it was just a joke. We wouldn't say "I don't understand why there are not many Spanish words beginning with Q", but "I know that there are not......". I apologise for joking at your non-native writing - my Spanish is terrible...... ;)
Helena Chavarria Feb 25, 2012:
@Neil Of course I understand why there are not many words in Spanish that begin with "q". What I find surprising is to find one here. I think we have a case of Spanglish: adjective + nouns, and "C.Q." could easily be "Q.C." (quality checking, quick control, among other things).
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
Helena - there are lots of mistakes There are more badly written/incomplete sentences than well written/complete sentences - due to the fact that it is a presentation many sentences are shortened/abbreviated.
(Why don't you understand that not many Spanish words begin with 'Q'???? - It's simply a fact that not many have been invented yet) ;)
Helena Chavarria Feb 25, 2012:
There are two things I don't understand. The first is that not many Spanish words begin with "q". The other thing is that the second time it is mentioned, it says, "C.Q. componentes", when it should really be "componentes C.Q."
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
LOL unlucky José - a cold shower is good for your heart and circulation (so they say)....
José J. Martínez Feb 25, 2012:
Many times, QC as it is put in English is also put like that in Spanish and sometimes it is abbreviated CC or CQ. Tell me...why is it in Mexico that plumbers... not the real good ones mind you, on any faucet will connect the c to the HOT water, and the H to the Cold... Well I have just got a bathroom redone and was very emphatic that I wanted the C for COLD and the H for HOT... well guess what??? I inagurated the shower this morning and..... the HOT was the C (for Caliente)... sometimes it is a losing battle. I feel that this same kind of thing is happening in your work at hand.
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
Some more context it seems to deny QUALITY CONTROL 2) Recomendamos el siguiente personal para distintas aéreas:
A) Almacén recepción: Operario/a especialista en manipulador de Carretilla elevadora.
C.Q. y Control de Almacén: operario/a, especialista en Electrónica.
Grado medio
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
The original is poorly written and full of typos.. .
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
ANOTHER CONTEXT much later on in the presentation Much later when talking about different lighting needs within a warehouse.
"C.Q. área - 300 luxes Superficie de trabajo"
This cancels out your idea I think Rich.....and puts the ball in Quality control....
BUT WHY DOES "control de calidad" appear in another part of the text...
Neil Ashby (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
José - keep your self posted ;) I think so too....
José J. Martínez Feb 25, 2012:
I have a hunch that it is something related to quality control. Please keep me posted.

quality control

Maybe not, but just in case:

I've seen several reviews for the CQ Light kits which are quite positive
