Spanish term

protección por fusible

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng HF generator for large heat sealer
Hi all,

Is it me or is the text missing something?
I'd expect something like "after disconnecting the fuse to protect against....", "opening the circuit breaker to protect against..." or even "after activating the lockout device...." but the Spanish doesn't have a verb.
The "dispositivos de seguridad" are physical devices.

"Los dispositivos de seguridad solo deben desinstalarse en los siguientes casos:
realización de trabajos de mantenimiento o reparación para los cuales se desconectó el generador de la red de alimentación;
**tras la protección por fusible** contra nueva puesta en marcha del generador."

TIA

Neil Ashby (asker) Oct 1, 2019:
psicutrinius, I guessed as much. Okay, thanks for clarifying and confirming that the original is duff! Unfortunately, it's pretty standard for technical documents; I've seen muuuuuch worse, as I'm sure we all have. When I studied chemistry we had a module on scientific communication and reporting, but I don't think engineers and the like receive any such course.

Re: fingers - we say 10 pork sausages! ;@)
psicutrinius Sep 30, 2019:
Hi, Neil "He" refers to whoever wrote the Spanish text. Sorry for not having included this, but I answered from the phone and, as my father used to say, in Spanish, "hijo, tienes manos de joyero. De joyero de hacer "joyos", quiero decir, no joyas".

"He" knows what he is writing about, but he should keep in mind that he writes for the remainder of mankind to understand, not for he alone. Especially if that may electrocute somebody.
Neil Ashby (asker) Sep 30, 2019:
Patinba,

The semi-colon is there because it's a list, not a single sentence, so the first and second items in the list are not necessarily connected. But I get what you're saying, thanks.
Neil Ashby (asker) Sep 30, 2019:
psicutrinius, sorry but who are you directing your comment at? Who does "he" refer to?
patinba Sep 30, 2019:
Does this help? Logically a fuse provides protection, so you would not disconnect it to protect anything.

How about “The safety devices may only be disconnected in the following cases: to carry out maintenance and repair work after disconnecting the generator from the power supply, * after installing a fuse to protect against any renewed start-up of the generator.

* comma instead of semi-colon?
psicutrinius Sep 30, 2019:
First thing he should do... Is to learn to write.
No way to get additional context on that. I would say that "The safety devices should be uninstalled ONLY for repair or maintenance work upstream of the fuses if and after the generator or the supply from the net has been open (cut).

I've found: protection, security & shielding but think a better fit is Protection: Fusible Safety Switch Protection.
Note from asker:
Hi Julio, thanks for your input, looks good. But I still need a verb. Any suggestions? Thanks.
