: Pouch is a great option but doesn't "a pouch for everyone" gives the idea it was one pouch for all of them instead of one each? Maybe just change that but pouch is the best option for the time the story is set, in my opinion.

: As I keep repeating for this story, it is set in Mongol invasion times and the word purse was not invented until the 1500. It was sack. When was the word purse invented? 1590s, earlier burse (1550s) "meeting place of merchants," from French bour.
