French term

fond épais

French to English Medical Medical (general) microscopic exam
Hi,
I am currently translating a cytology report (pulmonary alveolus) from Belgium and have the following:
"Composition: fond épais, globules rouges, macrophages"
Does this mean that the fluid is thick?
Thanks
Joanna

Discussion

Yassine El Bouknify Jul 29, 2023:
what about thick specimen? "Fond épais" in the context of the cytology report refers to a thick background or a dense base. In the given sentence, it describes the composition of the pulmonary alveolus sample, indicating that the background or base of the sample appears to be thick or dense.
