I am translating a technical guide on pharmaceutical water production. I am unsure of the correct translation of “vanne de barrage”. Dam would not be correct here.
A l’emplacement d’une vanne de barrage ou d’un point de prélèvement par exemple, la règle des 3D stipule (exemple ci-dessous) que l’écart de longueur entre le bord inférieur du diamètre intérieur de la vanne principale jusqu’au milieu du siège d’étanchéité du corps de la vanne prise échantillon soudé doit être au maximum le triple du diamètre intérieur du corps de la vanne prise échantillon.
At the moment I have “barrier valve”. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

: Yes, we've had a very similar question before, your second reference. Cutoff, or shutoff, or isolation valve or, as Sue suggests, barrier valve.
