This sounds like a plumbing term found on the floor of the bathroom but anyone know what this is in English?!

Another option. A convenient feature which has never been generalized in residential constructions in the US, rather unfortunately.

neutral Refugio : From the description, I think it is more than just a floor drain, though that may be part of its function. Some of the sites talk about retrieving rings, etc., so there must be a trap (sifón) involved.

It should be 'bote sifónico', although 'bote sinfónico' is often heard.
