Field goal in basketball Yes, there is a field goal in basketball, but not as you mentioned:
1. The 2 point shooting is called a field goal.
2. The 3 point shooting is also a field goal but more known as a 3 pointer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_goal_(basketball)
The difference is shooting from beyond the three-point line. These are not penalty shooting or free throw shots.

My suggestion can't confuse the two games at all because basketball is only played by hands while I suggested what indicates using the feet :)

field goal هناك مشكل إضافي وهو أن هذا المصطلح ليس مقصورًا على كرة القدم الأمريكية بل أنه موجود في ألعاب أخرى مثل كرة السلة وفيها يكون إحراز الهدف من الملعب وليس بعد ضربة جزاء وله نقاط أعلى أعتقد 3 نقاط بالمقارنة مع هدف الجزاء نقطتين...

Could be misleading The biggest score in this game is the touchdown. I tried to give a translation that makes it easier to understand for the Arabic reader who is not familiar with the rules of this game.
I am afraid that saying هدف by itself could be misleading because the thing that makes us cheer is the touchdown unlike a goal in soccer (called football anywhere but the USA).

There is only one kind of goal! The other kick (after a touchdown) gets the team what is called an extra point. It is not called a goal. Please check

Net Yes, the net is between the two posts, but scoring the 6 points has nothing to do with it. The player has to pass the end zone while carrying the ball in hand.
