English to Italian Science Genetics

Ciao a tutti,
ho un dubbio sul documento che sto traducendo, argomento genetica. Compare spesso il termine 'locus': secondo voi esperti, posso lasciare 'locus' o devo tradurre con 'luogo'? Cercando ho trovato possibili entrambe le soluzioni, ma vorrei sapere qual è la più corretta...

un esempio:

All of the alleles at every *locus* in the population.

è un termine che ricorre spesso.
