Stocks in smaller companies have performed well in the past couple of years, with corporate profitability high, interest rates low in historical terms and an abundance of mergers and acquisitions supporting share prices. The fund has performed strongly, benefiting from our choice of stocks in areas such as continental Europe, where domestic conditions have improved and the corporate climate remains healthy.
Smaller companies often have higher growth prospects relative to large companies due to the fact they are in the early stages of their growth trajectory. They are typically less researched by the market, meaning an advantage can be gained by looking into and understanding their fundamental attributes. We seek to identify high quality companies around the world, which are undervalued by the market and that offer superior and visible growth prospects.
We believe that global equity markets should continue to be supported by the combination of moderate economic growth, limited inflation pressures and a healthy amount of cash available for investment. Some risks remain, however, including rising oil prices and potentially further deterioration in the US housing market. As such, we believe that our focus on finding companies that offer sustainable growth patterns and are trading on compelling valuations should continue to reward the fund’s investors.

Significa che queste società hanno multipli bassi (ad es. rapporto prezzo/utili) e che è conveniente (per il fondo) acquistarle in quanto i relativi titoli hanno, potenzialmente, margini di apprezzamento molto elevati.

In Eurolandia gli utili sono in crescita e le valutazioni restano interessanti.
Ragionando in una prospettiva storica, le azioni europee offrono ancora valutazioni interessanti, sia rispetto agli indicatori di bilancio, che in termini relativi. Le società quotano con multipli pari a circa 16 volte gli utili, un valore inferiore alla loro media storica, pari a 19 volte.
