I guess it might be just another way of saying that the valve has been cleaned, but I am not sure of that:
"Other late valve-related events included 5 paravalvular leaks, 4 cases of endocarditis, [...]. Of the paravalvular leaks 2 were major (1 reoperated and repaired, 1 reoperated and replaced). 3 of 4 endocarditis cases were reoperated (2 explants and replaced and 1 cleansed) and 1 endocarditis case was treated medically only."

Di nuovo, potrei sbagliarmi, ma non penso che si parli della pulizia della valvola...anche perché dubito che i pazienti acconsentano al reimpianto di una valvola che ha causato infezione, per quanto possa nel frattempo essere stata pulita. Piuttosto, si potrebbe pensare ad un secondo intervento di pulizia chirurgica, come nei documenti di seguito:

La cosa ha un senso anche perché poco più in là si specifica che un caso è stato trattato "medically only", che per come la capisco io potrebbe significare solo tramite farmaci.
