Italian term

agricucina

Italian to English Other Cooking / Culinary
Hi all,

this is a single term I found in the web site of a traditional yet innovative mountain restaurant called San Brite (Cortina d'Ampezzo). Here you can get a feeling of the place: http://www.cortinadolomiti.eu/IT/san-brite/

Can you help me translated "agricucina" without using a lenghty expression, if possible?

Thanks!

Eleonora Imazio (asker) Mar 7, 2018:
Phil The expression is located at the bottom of the web site, just above social media links. It says "San Brite, agricucina - Cortina d'Ampezzo".
philgoddard Mar 6, 2018:
If it's the title, what does the actual text say?
Depending on the context, it may be better to leave it in Italian, perhaps with a few words of explanation.
Shabelula Mar 6, 2018:
agri potrebbe riferirsi
-alla genuinità
-alla produzione agricola effettuata direttamente dal ristorante e poi portata in tavola
-alla doppia attività del gestore (agricola e culinaria)

. Hi Phil, it is actually just a title "Agricucina - Cortina d'Ampezzo". You can't see it because the actual web site of the restaurant is still offline. The link I provided is just to give you an idea of what kind of restaurant this is.
philgoddard Mar 6, 2018:
I can't actually see "agricucina", though it does say "agri-ristorante". Could you tell us the sentence in which it occurs, please?

agri-cuisine

just as in Italian it is a combination of agricoltura/agriturismo and cucina, by using agri-cuisine you will leave it as vague and all-encompassing (as Shabelula points out) as the source. It already says:

Formaggi, carni e verdure di produzione propria prendono forma e acquisiscono gusti nuovi tra le mani dello chef Riccardo Gaspari.

In any case the web-site goes on to explain further I presume.

you can see here that we already have agri-food, agri-business and agri-catering so agri-cuisine would follow in this trend

There is so little context to go on but this could be a solution.
Alternative: farm-to-table
If you google it you will find lots of resources which should help you decide if it's the right answer in the context.

agrarian cuisine

Literally "home cooking", but in this area especially, it has the connotation of a rustic, agrarian cuisine (also known as cucina povera).
