I would definitely use "spread" if we were talking about pricing (e.g., base rate plus spread). In this case, however, I think they are focusing on an income indicator. That is, the margin earned on the difference between interest income from short term loans vs interest paid to clients on deposits.

The indicator they have given does not discuss all interest income and interest expense typical of bank. If it did, the P&L line would be net interest income or net interest margin.
