I personally think it can be used in both ways depending on the context. It is possible that there is more than one 'practice' in a particular context. There is also the general concept of 'according to best practice' where it is uncountable as it is a concept rather than relating to individual paractices. In your case I think it could be either.

Hi, I have also seen both but am inclined to use the singular since it is intended as an adjective (for standards, for example). This is what I think, anyway.
