: Hi Simon. I'm looking for confirmation for my own translation. This would be the motive (grounds given by) of the judge for making his decision, rather than the classic motive for the crime, right? Yep clearly. Thanks.

Hi Jim, that's right. But best say grounds and not motive, otherwise you risk making it sound like the motive for the crime
