Italian term

Cinque contro uno

Italian to English Other Media / Multimedia
Am translating a profile for a skier where they have to state their likes and dislikes (along with various other details on their personalities)
Next to the question "A stupidity?" (i.e. something you think is stupid), he has written "Cinque contro uno"
I think it's some kind of on-line thing (forum, social network??) but don't know for sure. Any ideas??
Proposed translations (English)

Grey Drane (X) Sep 8, 2008:
Euphemisms I can't think of anything better than the "salami" expression, but it's a shame that it loses the sports reference of the Italian, given that it's an interview of a sports personality.

Hmmm... "pocket hockey" maybe?

Grey Drane (X) Sep 8, 2008:
Actually, now that you mention it, I have heard that expression fairly recently. Almost certainly it refers to five fingers and one... well, you know. ;)
Fiona McBrearty (asker) Sep 8, 2008:
because I saw a video on youtube entitled "cinque contre uno". Mind you, it was a bit dodgy as it showed a guy masturbating... A member who so far wishes to remain anonymous has suggested that that is actually what it means (italian slang)
Grey Drane (X) Sep 8, 2008:
Could you provide more context? For example, what makes you think it refers to something online?

male masturbation

Hello Fiona

when I was a teenager, "cinque contro uno" was a funny way to refer to male masturbation (as in the five fingers against... well, you know). Online you will find several references to this use of the phrase.

Clearly you will have to choose an equally funny expression... I don't think I can help you with that :-)

pocket hockey

This just came to me as I was posting a discussion entry. It's not a bad option since it maintains the sports reference.

You could also go with a literal translation - "five on one" - but it might require some extra context to get the reference, since it's not as common of an expression in English. Although, according to the Urban Dictionary, it is apparently used.

pocket billiards

That's what we call it here :)

agree Dana Rinaldi : Really???

Yes !
neutral Grey Drane (X) : Maybe, but it's also the term for just regular old "pool" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocket_billiards - @Tom LOL. Good point, but maybe too sophisticated for the context?

yes. "She asked the barman for a double entendre, so he gave her one" :)
