This is from a paper describing the effects of methotrexate at the cellular and molecular levels:

"La tossicità del methotrexate si esercita soprattutto a carico del distretto ematopoietico e della mucosa intestinale, è tuttavia frequente il coinvolgimento renale nei regimi che utilizzano le alte dosi"

It's the "district" part of the question that's causing the problems.

After birth, the main site of hematopoiesis is the bone marrow.The with the term "sites of hematopoiesis" are defined the Areas, Organs or locations where blood production occurs.e.g. the bone marrow is th only site of blood production in extrauterine life. The yolk sac and the liver poduce blood in the intrauterine life. Hematopoiesis (or AE:haematopoiesis) in diseases can take place in the liver, spleen, lymph nodes etc.
