I suppose they mean when two vessels flank for refueling.
I would use "flank" but perhaps there is a better term in maritime language.
Thanks!
-------------------------------
Importante: mai superare i 16 nodi perché’ si potrebbero oltrepassare i limiti di carico del VDS –
il freno potrebbe non tenere e si potrebbe perdere il VDS a mare;
Il cavo di rimorchio non deve venire a contatto con sella o portale;
Sono preferibili lunghezze di cavo maggiori, poiché maggiori quantità di cavo stabilizzano il VDS in quota e comporta minori sollecitazioni;
Le accostate vanno compiute con 1° di barra;
E’ possibile effettuare contemporaneamente operazioni di rifornimento laterale/affiancamento, ma deve essere presente una sola unità con VDS.

Alongside connected replenishment (CONREP)
Hi Vincent,
I believe the term you are looking for is "Alongside Connected Replenishment". This is a more specific form of the general "Replenishment at Sea" or RAS, also known as underway replenishment or UNREP for the US Navy. I've asked a contact who works in naval engineering and from an online search the term appears to be widely used and to refer to just this situation.
Hope the references help!
