Does anyone know whether there's an English term for this? In the following:
A dispetto del piccolo negozio, Meli è il gioielliere del Ponte che ha il più grande laboratorio di proprietà. Soltanto al banco ci lavorono dieci persone, specializzate in una tecnica squisitamente artigianale, il "madrevitato" che è patrimonio esclusivo dei Meli.
Any ideas anyone?

Nel loro sito, http://www.meligioielli.com/, non traducono "madrevitato" e nella descrizione lo chiamano "kurled or "madrevitato" effect" (anche se a me sembra la filigrana etrusca che fanno anche qui ad Arezzo)
