Italian term

trovano qui forma in un certo desiderio di astrazione

Italian to English Art/Literary Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts)
Please note I am NOT looking for a literal translation.

I am having some difficulty in translating the phrase below - not because the meaning is unclear but because a literal translation: "find expression(here) in a certain desire for abstraction" sounds clumsy (at least to my ear!). Am I paraphrasing too much if I just write: "here find (a certain) abstract expression"

Context: The phrase appears in the preface to a photo book in a description of some photographs depicting dilapidated, derelict, now uninhabited buildings and what remains of their contents - the vestiges of past lives.
