Buongiorno a tutti:

qualcuno sa come si traduce "studenti fuori sede"?
Nello specifico si tratta di "abitazioni per studenti fuori sede".

Grazie dell'aiuto!

sono abitazioni fornite dall'universita' (casa dello studente) o no?
"fuori sede" sono semplicemente gli studenti che vengono da un'altra citta'

Accomodations for commuting students

an idea!
Peer comment(s):

agree S K : yes-students are assigned accomodation off or on campus depeding on their residence, If they live locally they are less likely to obtain on campus accomodation, this accomodation is kept for those travelling greater distances.

sì, sono off-campus halls of residence or off-campus accommodation. I know because I used to live in this type of accommodation when I was at university; they were blocks of flats about 2 miles away from the main university campus.

students from outside the (local) area

...or "(accommodation for) students from outside the catchment area / district" (although personally the first option sounds better to me).

"Accommodation" is a more general and would suit any circumstance. If accommodation is provided by the uni, I would also suggest "residential facilities".

"Fuori sede" technically refers to students who come from places situated more than 90 minutes away from the campus. It does not mean that they live outside the campus. In fact, some of them may be granted the privilege of university accommodation (casa dello studente) and thus live "on campus", as it were. Anyway, as far as I know, Italian universities are not usually equipped with on-campus residential facilities; such facilities are normally located outside the campus.

I have found some links of UK universities where this concept is expressed. Obviously, there could always be better alternatives, but this one should be clear enough.
Hope this helps.
