Hello all,
We're still talking about MTB, and still discussing the various trails/routes.
The term is once again part of a description:
Una discesa veloce su "fondo cementato" porta fino alla località di Posallo, dove la strada torna ad essere asfaltata.
Anyone know what this "fondo cementato" is, and what the difference between a "fondo cementato" e una strada asfaltata is? I'm assuming that a strada asfaltata is a normal paved road, while a sfondo cementato is "cemented/paved" (?) underneath and then has beaten earth on top, but I am really rather unsure.
Thank you again,
Giuliana

cement-paved descent
What they probably mean is that a piece of dirt road has been cemented over. This is frequently done either in curves or in particularly steep sections in order to improve traction for vehicles. The cement will normally have a series of grooves in it for the same purpose.
