To me an electromobile or golfmobile suggests a vehicle driven by the golfer, whereas a golf cart may carry nothing but the golf clubs, but I am not sure if this is a valid distinction.

No! Two different things. A caddy is a person who hauls your bag and clubs around. A buggy is a vehicle.
