Yes, it is, in Europe. I even mentioned this above. However its seems to very trendy in Russia/Ukraine nowadays. My son graduated from the lyceum, e.g.

: While Lyceum is a valid word, trust me when I say that this term is not used in English. I'd be more inclined to use Academy or College.

Дорогой Талиб ! оставьте в переводе просто "school" - поверьте на слово человеку в своё время окончившему "школу-лицей"
- на практике "школа-лицей" от просто "средней школы" не отличается практически НИЧЕМ ! - ,возможно, отдельные предметы там преподают несколько получше, но программа занятий точно такая же !
