This is from a description by Sergei Kirienko of what distinguishes the two units at Fukushima (#5 and 6) that emerged intact from the tsunami:
...они расположены всего на два-три метра выше уровня моря, и у них **система автоматики аварийных дизелей** находится не в подвальном помещении **под дизелями, а на крыше, над дизелями**.... Два метра над уровнем моря и автоматика, поднятая над аварийным дизелем.
I am assuming that дизель here means "diesel generator," but then I am left with the question of how the "diesels" can be "below the diesels" or "above the diesels." Also the word автоматика is unclear to me: does it mean the automatic controls that start the diesel generator in case of emergency?

: It is the control that is located above or below the diesel. It does not matter whether the "diesel" is an engine or a generator, in this context.
