Russian to English Other Human Resources работа
What could it be in the correct modern English:
be employed according to one's degree/certificate/qualification?

I once encountered a rather awkward phrase like
"to work in the specialty". Or am I on the wrong track?

to work in one's specialty field

Specialty fields are also working fields, but they are fields in which you specialize or do your best work...

More Physician Assistants prefer working in specialty fields over the primary care setting

...Once you work in a specialized field, it may become difficult to gain employment outside this field, because employers may be concerned that your skills in some areas may not be up to date. For this reason, it is important to think carefully about what type of specialty you may want to work in before you commit.

to work in one's (acquired) profession - this might be an alternative
Note from asker:
To work in ones certified profession?

Thank You !
agree James McVay : I've also seen "area of expertise," but that doesn't necessarily mean one has a degree in that area. Expertise can also come with experience, as with translation.

Thank You !
agree engltrans : in/out of one's specialization field

agree Judith Hehir : with James. Also consider: in one's area of specialization Another suggestion: simply "in one's field/not in one's field"

to be employed in line with one's certified professional qualifications

I believe I've managed to convey the meaning

в принципе, in line with или according to - дело вкуса.

Кстати, я, к примеру, имею диплом Химфака МГУ, а уже более 25 лет успешно занимаюсь переводами :-)) и считаю что я work in my specialty field
Note from asker:
Но тогда остается технический вопрос: in line with, according to.
