| Мне кажется, что specialty field это все-таки "специализация", область деятельности, где человек имеет наивысшую компетенцию или умения/знания, что и подтверждается приведенными здесь контекстами. "Специальность" в смысле профессии/дисциплины, которую ты изучал в университете и получил официальный диплом/сертификат, -- это что-то иное. Это именно profession. To work in ones certified profession? |

: I've also seen "area of expertise," but that doesn't necessarily mean one has a degree in that area. Expertise can also come with experience, as with translation.
