Being не может определять consciousness в английском понимании философии, базирующимся на латыни, потому что лат. esse ( being) = esentia (form, idea, по необхолдимости включающие понятие сознание) + existentia (cyществование).
В материалистическом заявлении, предложенном для перевода, имеется ввиду как раз процесс эмпирического существования, который мыслится материалистом как первичное условие для ментального процесса "сознания" или "осознания". Предлагаемый мной вариант, таким образом, не искажает ни английской традиции, ни мысли автора, верной или неверной самой по себе.
В материалистическом заявлении, предложенном для перевода, имеется ввиду как раз процесс эмпирического существования, который мыслится материалистом как первичное условие для ментального процесса "сознания" или "осознания".
