Я, пожалуй, соглашусь, что ценности человека не меняются из-за болезни, хотя автор исследует больных в том числе с тяжелыми заболеваниями: хроническая почечная недостаточность и Вич-инфекция. |

: Wouldn't it be "целевые ориентиры" then? I think "goal" and "meaning" are not the same.

I think of "orientation" as implying a goal, and that a concept of meaning is inherent in one's goals. I know this is a loose translation, but to me it conveys the idea better in English.
