ASPECTUAL PAIRS, GOAL ORIENTATION AND PO- DELIMITATIVES IN RUSSIAN
<...> This paper reconsiders the overall issue of aspectual pairhood in Russian from a cognitive linguistic perspective, and in particular it reexamines the status of one kind of procedural verb, pf delimitative verbs prefixed with po-, e.g., posidet'p ‘sit for a while’, in respect to aspectual pairhood, and ultimately argues against the traditional view that po- delimitatives do not qualify as paired pf verbs. This position is compatible with Janda’s (forthcoming) version of a network approach to Russian aspectual derivation.
