The context is an appeal (in Spain) against a decision at first instance. For UK.

Hi Christine Thank you very much, I saw the one that said it was the same as cargular, but for some reason didn't find the translation as credit instrument :S

Cartular? One of the web pages I looked at sid that 'obligación cartácea' is the same as 'obligación cartular', which apparently translates as 'credit instrument'

paper debt instrument

cartáceo -- perhaps calqued from Italian -- means "made of paper" as opposed to electronic obligations, sentimental obligations and the like-
