This is the report of a mountaineering expedition: the climbers are roped together and step in each other's tracks "a comando alternato".
"Mettevamo i piedi l'uno nella traccia dell'altro a comando alternato."
"Mettevamo i piedi l'uno nella traccia dell'altro a comando alternato."

Alternate leads
Credo che "comando alternato" significa "alternate leads", cioe' che gli alpinisti alternano tra di loro durante la scalata.

I would change the structure: "we stepped in each other's tracks, alternating leads".

I would change the structure: "we stepped in each other's tracks, alternating leads".
Note from asker:
Alternate leads sounds good by itself. But what about the sentence? "We stepped in each other's tracks... in alternate leads"? Or rather "leading through"? I wonder if this makes sense at all. |
Sounds good, thanks. |
