Lina Episheva Jul 7, 2009:
Interesting comment, Levan, if you “strongly disagreed” to this answer, as you say, who made you select it? From your comment it looks like I or others forced our ideas on you. I would not even be the slightest bit disappointed or hurt if you selected another answer to your own liking. I think this is the point of kudoz. Translators are free to choose any answer, even if it is clearly wrong, but competent translators should be able to identify the best response themselves. That’s the challenge. The fact that an answer is selected does not necessarily mean that it is a correct one. Many times, for my translations, I've picked responses that weren't selected as the best.
I’ll still add the term to the glossary contrary to your request. I feel it's just a little way of giving back what we receive.
Levan Namoradze (asker) Jul 2, 2009:
Lina Episheva Jun 30, 2009:
There are three parties in a life insurance transaction; the insurer, the insured, and the owner of the policy (you can also call him policy payor if you want to stress that this is the party that pays insurance premiums.
Lina Episheva Jun 30, 2009:
To Levan Why two parties? I spoke about three parties - insurer, policy-holder and insured. Have you seen my links?

policy-holder or insured, depending on context

Assured - застрахованное лицо (или застрахованный или страхователь) - another name for an insured. In the UK the assured is a person (or people) who has entered into a life assurance contract with a life office and is a policyholder. The policy on whose life the policy is taken out is known as the life assured. The assured and life assured are often the same person but not always. In the USA the expression insured is used. In life insurance, the insured is the person who has entered into contract and on whose life the policy is written. On the death of the insured, the face amount of the policy passes to the beneficiary. A party who is a potential beneficiary of an insurance contract. The synonym insured is more commonly used. The party who is entitled to receive money under an insurance contract on the happening of a stated contingency or event. The assured is also sometimes referred to as insured....

Policy-holder IS responsible for paying insurance premium. See this link http://encyclopedia.stateuniversity.com/pages/13505/life-ins... How Life Insurance works

Life insurance is a contract between the policy owner and the insurer, where the insurer agrees to pay a sum of money upon the occurrence of the insured's death. In return, the policyowner (or policy payor) agrees to pay a stipulated amount called a premium at regular intervals.

There are three parties in a life insurance transaction; the insurer, the insured, and the owner of the policy (policyholder), although the owner and the insured are often the same person. For example, if Qwanda buys a policy on his own life, he is both the owner and the insured. But if Wanda, his wife, buys a policy on Qwanda's life, she is the owner and he is the insured. The owner of the policy is called the grantee (he or she will be the person who will pay for the policy). The beneficiary is the person or persons who will receive the policy proceeds upon the death of the insured. The beneficiary is not a party to the policy, but is designated by the owner, who may change the beneficiary unless the policy has an irrevocable beneficiary designation. With an irrevocable beneficiary, that beneficiary must agree to changes in beneficiary, policy assignment, or borrowing of cash value.

lifetime online insurance is a contract between the policy owner and the insurance firm, in which the latter agrees to disburse a sum of money when the insured party dies. As part of the deal, the policyowner (or grantee) agrees to remit a specified sum of money, referred to as an insurance premium, at regular intervals. There are three parties in a lifetime online insurance transaction; the insurer, the insured, and the owner of the policy (policy owner), though the owner and the insured are often the same individual. The owner of the policy is referred to as the policy payor. Another noteworthy person who participates (if only indirectly) in the transaction is the beneficiary. This is the party or parties who are to get the online life insurance proceeds upon the death of the insured. The named beneficiary isn`t a party to the insurance policy, but is chosen by the policyowner, who is entitled to alter the designated beneficiary, except when the insurance contract has an `irrevocable beneficiary` clause. With an irrevocable beneficiary, that individual will have to agree to changes in beneficiary policy assignment, or borrowing of cash value.
Note from asker:
Why do you consider contractual relations only between two sides? :-)
Peer comment(s):

agree David Knowles : We discussed this last week (?) and I think "policy-holder" is clear and avoids worryng about endings (ee vs er).

Thank you, David, but the asker still has doubts about this term. He thinks that policy-holder is not always responsible for insurance premium payments
agree TechLawDC : Осторожно!

owner

The owner of a life insurance policy is the one who has the rights that are stipulated in the contract. These include the right to name a beneficiary; the right to participating dividends; the right to surrender the policy for its cash value; and the right to transfer ownership.

The insured, who is often the owner of the policy, is the person whose death causes the insurer to pay the death claim to the beneficiary.

The beneficiary can be a person, trust, estate, or business.

an insured or policyholder is the person or entity buying the insurance
the parties (the insurer, the insured, the beneficiaries),
