aromatization of adrenal and ovarian androgens. The last step
in estrogen biosynthesis is dependent on the action of the P-
450 aromatase enzyme (or aromatase synthetase) on
androstenedione and testosterone. The ovaries are the primary
source of estrogen in premenopausal women, while peripheral
aromatization of androgens is the primary source of estrogen
in postmenopausal women.
Μετάφραση - Ελληνικά Τα οιστρογόνα παράγονται στις ωοθήκες και περιφερειακά μέσω αρωματοποίησης των ανδρογόνων των επινεφριδίων και των ωοθηκών. Το τελευταίο στάδιο της βιοσύνθεσης των οιστρογόνων εξαρτάται από την δράση του ενζύμου Ρ-450 αρωματάση (ή αρωματάση συνθετάση) στην ανδροστενεδιόνη και στην τεστοστερόνη.
