I was wondering if there was an option in Microsoft Word to insert small boxes like these to fill in with letters?

Single-row table

The easiest way to reproduce a set of boxes like that shown is to create a single-row table with as many columns as you need boxes.

Better still: create a table with just one or two columns of the appropriate width, then add the extra columns one by one. Word will make them the same width as the previous column. Pasting columns is also a quick way to add columns of the same width as the previous column.
