I always drink my last cup around or before noon, though.

1 big cup of jasmine tea for breakfast, followed by my first espresso coffee. After that, 4/5 cups of coffee (without sugar) during the day depending on my workload, my mindset, the weather (I drink less coffee in Summer than in Winter). I also drink kombucha tea at lunch and I try to drink at least 1 litre of water (doctor’s orders) every day, but I admit willingly that I am addicted to coffee…

I'd say... 5-10 cups.
As a South African, I prefer instant coffee. In South Africa, instant coffee isn't actually coffee -- its roasted chicory, but here in the Netherlands, instant coffee is made from actual coffee. It doesn't really affect the taste, though. To me, "coffee" is coffee. Also, as a South African, I drink coffee with in a 250 ml cup with 2-3 spoons of sugar and 50 ml of cold milk. The Dutch drink their coffee black, without sugar, in a 100 ml cup. A modern tre... See more I'd say... 5-10 cups.

Also, as a South African, if there are rusks, I dip 'em. In the Netherlands, dipping a biscuit is considered provincial -- even if you are served a biscuit and coffee together, you are expected to consume them separately.
The Dutch drink a lot of tea and/or herbal tea, and they drink it steeped/dipped, so every Dutch home has an electric kettle, though most Dutch homes also have one or more coffee machines. I don't often have tea, but when I do, I prefer it the proper way: brewed (not steeped), and with milk and sugar. Tea is properly brewed if, after you added milk, the colour is brown, not white. The Dutch consider tea to be over-steeped if you can detect any colour in the water.

2 cups of instant coffee per day + 1 cup of tea on some days

Always large mugs* - the current ones are about 225 ml
2 mugs of tea for breakfast
at least 4-5 coffees during the day - I make a litre in the percolator, and a cup or two of instant later if that is not enough!
2 mugs of tea late in the evening.
I never drink alcohol in any form, although I do drink fruit juice occasionally.

I can drink Danish black coffee if I have to, and for a couple of years I had a boyfriend who drank his tea black, but when we went our separate ways (or probably before!) I went back to putting milk in my tea.
* I have a couple of mugs to use all the time. They get broken every now and then, and then I buy a new one - or several - from the charity shop. Depending on the type of ceramics, some keep the drink warm much better than others, and they all have to withstand re-heating in the microwave.
If they get cold too quickly, they are returned to the charity shop! ▲ Collapse

A large mug (400 ml) of coffee to get started in the morning and 1-2 smaller mugs of varying teas/fruit infusions during the day. Also, the occasional 330-500 ml of properly brewed beer (nothing with a TV spot, nothing from Munich!) after a particularly successful and/or exhausting day. Other than that, I basically only drink water when I actually get thirsty.

As an Argentinian, I love drinking mate. Are you familiar with this beverage? Since it's impossible to count mate in cups, I would say that I drink around two kettles of mate everyday (of course it depends on the day).

Yes, but it’s not common in Europe, at least not in the traditional way with straw. I once met an Argentinian in Europe who somehow fit her full mate set in her backpack while traveling Europe, so she can enjoy it properly, as you won’t really find it in Europe in a way that you can order it in a cafe.

I'm an Argentinian living in Uruguay, so mate is almost part of my DNA. Mate is never available at cafés. We always travel with our mate, whether locally or abroad.

I thought it might have been available in South America. Yes, I understand that. We also sometimes travel with mini portable coffee machines (that look like a bottle, it’s not French press).
In Europe, you’d hardly source mate set/kit in a shop, while mate tea leaves may be available, but I am sure they’re of low quality.
I experimented with mate (not the traditional way) when I was trying to quit coffee, but it didn’t work as they give me two completely different types of kicks. Mate is mate, coffee is coffee. The only type of tea I have now is green gunpowder or black tea. Matcha is too bitter/strong or I’m not used to it. I also sometimes have rooibos but it doesn’t do anything (no caffeine), just makes me sleep.
