What/who came first, the cat or the carpets?

Do Clouseau and Cato attack each other unexpectedly, while Bubbly Bubbles enjoys the show, sipping Bolli?

Pronouns are quite a can of worms, nowadays. How can you know whether they identify themselves as pussycats, tomcats, or gender-neutral felines?

I'm not nameless, and you called me having no class in one of your recent posts. I have class. I came from the working class and I always will belong to the working class (and I believe you too descent from that class), either as a translator or as a service technician, as in the past and as I will be again in the near future. Don't you dare to ever call me having no class, you "academic" from NI!

You always read the posts, in any threads, you are addicted to them, as so many here.

You will. At least by calling in the mods to have erased my post.

That's the one and only likable feature you ever have shown here. Goodbye, "Tom".

Coming home ... Jul 12, 2021

Well, I'm not a football fan, the last match I could watch without losing the will to live out of sheer boredom, was the grand finale between Italy and Germany in Madrid, in 1982.

And I'm sorry for the England team, and for their best fans, and I wouldn't want to gloat about it, but seeing Boris Johnson deflated was a delicious morsel of Schadenfreude.

Almeno oggi/at least today Jul 12, 2021

Ciao Porzia, Hi Porzia

Almeno oggi un po' di orgoglio nazionale è doveroso, sì il calcio è davvero tornato a casa
At least today some national pride is a must, yes football is really back to home

Football was always at home Jul 12, 2021

AFAIK the match balls stayed in England (since nobody has done a hattrick), but the cup went to Italy.

Or we can say the same about Spain,
Anyway no need to argue... cup went to Italy, Italy won

My goodbye too Jul 13, 2021

I would like to express my congrats to Italy, and to thank everyone for a very pleasant time through this thread.
I don't like to break my word, but I don't see a valid and good reason to participate more on this "Completely frivolous thread".
Goodbye everyone

Sad to see you go. It’s like the end of school. Head boy and his understudy expelled. Everyone going off to pastures new.

Be happy!

Read the lyrics in Italian and English:

Un bel dì, vedremo
levarsi un fil di fumo sull'estremo
confin del mare.
E poi la nave appare.
Poi la nave bianca
entra nel porto, romba il suo saluto.

Vedi? È venuto!
Io non gli scendo incontro. Io no. Mi metto
là sul ciglio del colle e aspetto, e aspetto
gran tempo e non mi pesa
la lunga attesa.

E ... uscito dalla folla cittadina
un uomo, un picciol punto
s'avvia per la collina.

Chi sarà? Chi sarà?
E come sarà giunto
che dirà? Che dirà?
Chiamerà "Butterfly" dalla lontana.
Io senza dar risposta
me ne starò nascosta

One fine day we'll notice
a thread of smoke arising
on the sea, in the far horizon,
and then the ship appearing;
Then the trim white vessel
glides into the harbour, thunders forth her cannon.

See you? Now he is coming!
I do not go to meet him. Not I.
I stay upon the brow of the hillock, and wait there
and wait for a long time, but never weary
of the long waiting.

From out the crowded city crowd
there is coming a man, a little speck
in the distance, climbing the hillock.

Can you guess who it is?
And when he's reached the summit,
can you guess what he'll say?
He will call: "Butterfly" from the distance.
I, without answ'ring,
hold myself quietly conceal'd.
A bit to teaze him and a bit so as to not die
at our first meeting; and then, a little troubled,
he will call, he will call:
"Dear baby wife of mine,
dear little orange blossom!"
The names he used to call me when he came here.

This will all come to pass,
as I tell you.
Banish your idle fears, for he will return,
I know it.
